Canada ranks 3rd highest in percentage of international students
According to UNESCO, over 4.6 million higher education students study abroad and Canada has welcomed a large number of them. According to the latest Project Atlas report, the country has ranked third among those that host the largest shares of international students in comparison to their total higher education populations. At 15.2%, it follows only Australia (23.8%) and the U.K. (21.1%)
Aiming for 450,000 international students by 2022, Canada seems to be on the right track to meet its goal, affirms ICEF Monitor. In 2015, Canada had already hit the mark of 353,570 students.
There are many reasons why Canada is a top destination for international students. Reasons such as the tuition fees, which are considered to be very affordable for the high-quality education offered. Surveys have also indicated that students find the country’s higher education system prepares them well for the job market.
